This beautiful oil has been available for the past few years from growers in Australia. Extra Virgin oil is the very first pressing of the nuts and it reaps the purest, most nutritious nut oil. It is highly emollient and can be used on any skin type.
Macadamia nut oil is the richest botanical source of Palmitoleic acid. Palmitoleic acid is primarily a healing agent, a mono unsaturated fatty acid that is a highly effective anti oxidant. This fatty acid supports cell regeneration and can help heal burns and wounds and can reduce dermatitis and eczema. This same fatty acid is also found in the sebum of the skin, particularly in youth, but diminishes with the aging process. This gives Macadamia oil a natural affiliation with the skin. There is evidence that the skin looses Palmitoleic acid content and slows production as we age.
Macadamia oil is particularly effective in replenishing and rejuvenating damaged, sensitive, dry and/ or mature skin with the palmitoleic acid (over 18%) having possible anti ageing properties. So application and absorption of these nutrients actively regenerate and rejuvenate the skin, effectively slowing the aging process. It is because of these qualities that the oil is used in many anti-aging cosmetic formulations and applications.
Suggested Uses:
Macadamia oil reinforces the lipidic cutaneous barrier of the skin and improves hydration. It also appears to have a slight sunscreen effect as well. Perfect as a carrier oil, it helps the essential oils penetrate the skin, particularly in massage. It is readily absorbed, nourishes the skin, leaving it soft and supple. Our virgin oil is food grade, but unlike other nut oils it rarely causes allergies. Because of its high monounsaturation and natural antioxidants, it is self stabilizing. This means it has a long shelf life when stored in a cool dark plac
Description:
The Macadamia tree is originally native to Australia, but can now also be found in Hawaii. Other names for the nut are Queensland nut, Bush nuts, Maroochi Nuts and Bauple nuts. It was named Macadamia in honor of John Macadam, a Scottish chemist. The Australian Macadamia nut industry didn't start to flourish until the 1970s and now is a significant producer of the oil that comes from the nut of this tree and has a clear, slightly yellow appearance.
Our Organic Macadamia Virgin oil is sourced from one of few organic Macadamia farms in Australia, where the trees have been grown sustainably without the use of artificial fertilizers and sprays.
